Key Points of Using Jacketed Glass Reactor

The jacketed glass reactor is designed with double-layer glass. The inner layer can be filled with reaction solvent for stirring reaction, and the inter-layer can be connected to different cold and heat sources for high-temperature reaction or low-temperature reaction. The high and low temperature integrated machine can also be selected as the temperature control system of the Jacketed glass reactor. It is an ideal pilot and production equipment for modern fine chemicals, biopharmaceuticals and new material synthesis.

I. Temperature control medium of jacketed glass reactor
According to the required reaction temperature, temperature control media of different properties are selected as the heat transmission medium of the reaction. For low temperature, choose ice-ethanol bath, for normal temperature, choose water bath, and for high temperature, choose oil bath. When using low temperature or high temperature, pay attention to choosing the right medium, and the key is viscosity. Usually the manufacturer will also provide the corresponding heating medium for selection according to their own glass reactor.

II. Insulation medium of jacketed glass reactor
Because the thickness of the inter-layer in the middle of the jacketed glass reactor is small, it has poor thermal insulation performance. When using high temperature and low temperature, it is necessary to use thermal insulation materials for thermal insulation protection of the kettle body. The kettle body and the pipes for conducting liquids need to be wrapped with insulation materials, and attention should be paid to the thickness of the insulation layer to ensure a better insulation effect.

III. Storage location of jacketed glass reactor
The reaction amplification test uses a jacketed glass reactor. The volume is generally 50~150L, and the specific capacity can be adjusted according to user requirements. Therefore, the scale of the test should not be underestimated. The kettle body is made of glass, and stainless steel is used as the support, and the legs are equipped with casters, so the storage location must be carefully selected.

IV. Safety setting of jacketed glass reactor
The jacketed glass reactor has a large amount of reaction during use, and the concentration of the solvent in the surrounding air is high, so it must be set up safely. The explosion-proof design for the jacketed glass reactor is mainly to set up an explosion-proof motor, an explosion-proof switch and an explosion-proof power controller on the stirring motor. It is very necessary to install a gas alarm in the workplace. In addition, be sure not to pile solvents or debris around the glass reactor, and leave a clear safety passage.

V. Feeding of jacketed glass reactor
The jacketed glass reactor is an independent reaction rack, which is different from the industrial reactor. Its pre-set feeding port is small and the feeding process is difficult. The jacketed glass reactor should not be fed too much at one time. It should be evaluated according to the reaction temperature, reflux and pressure, and then appropriate materials should be added. Generally speaking, the feeding amount should not exceed 2/3 of the kettle body.
